Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s COVID-19 tally touched 1,438 on Monday with highest single-day spike of 103 new cases, after May 13 when 101 people had tested positive for the virus.
Deogarh saw a jump of 22 cases taking the total to 24. The remaining cases were reported from Kendrapara (15), Ganjam (4), Jajpur (1), Balasore (5), Bhadrak (8), Khurda (5), Jagatsinghpur (10), Mayurbhanj (1), Keonjhar (1), Gajapati (6), Koraput (6), Kandhamal (1), Dhenkanal (1), Malkangiri (9) and Balangir (8).
According to Health Department sources, 96 of these cases have been detected in quarantine centres while seven are locals.
Details of the patients are awaited.
With seven deaths and 550 recoveries, Odisha now has 881 active cases.
