Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital saw the highest single-day spike of 570 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which pushed the affected tally to 11843.
Among them, 221 are quarantine and 356 local contact cases. Two of those infected have a travel history to Raipur and Jharkhand.
According to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), four central government hospital staff, seven government hospital staff, one of private hospital and a nurse of Kalinga hospital have tested positive for the virus.
The highest of 11 cases have been reported from IRC Village and another six from VSS Nagar. Eight cases have been detected in a government office at Kharvela Nagar.
The local contact cases include 12 from Patia, 10 each from Saliashree Vihar and IRC Village, seven from 7th Batallion, eight from Khandagiri and seven each from Laxmisagar and Pokhariput. Three police staff and a hospital staffer have also been infected.
The BMC also informed about 316 more patients recovering from the infection.
With 45 deaths and 7251 recoveries, Bhubaneswar bow has 4535 active cases.
