Biggest Win Takes India Back To The Top Of ICC Test Rankings

Mumbai: India are back on top of the ICC Test rankings.

The massive 372-run victory in the second and final Test against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium here on Monday helped Virat Kohli’s men displace the Kiwis as the No. 1 Test team in the world.

After the series-clinching victory, Team India have 124 rating points while New Zealand are on 121. Australia are a distant third with 108 rating points.

It was sweet revenge for India, as they had lost to New Zealand in the World Test Championship final at Southampton in June.

India were the No. 1 team for five years, before being dethroned by Australia last year for a short period, and again earlier this year by New Zealand.

Monday’s triumph was also India’s biggest victory in Test matches, in terms of runs. The previous best was the 337-run win against South Africa in Delhi in 2015.
