Second Test: India Beat New Zealand By 372 Runs, Clinch Series 1-0

Mumbai: Jayant Yadav claimed four wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin got rid of Henry Nicholls early on Day 4 to help India secure a massive 372-run win in the second and final Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium here on Monday.

Yadav sent back Rachin Ravindra, Kyle Jamieson, Tim Southee, and William Somerville, while Ashwin signalled the end by dismissing Henry Nicholls.

The Indian spin duo’s efforts saw the Kiwis being bowled out for 167 with the hosts clinching the two-match Test series 1-0.

Earlier on Day 3, the Virat Kohli-led India dominated all three sessions to put themselves in the driver’s seat. After posting 325 and skittling out the Black Caps for 62, the hosts set the Kiwis a mammoth 540-run target in the fourth innings.

Brief scores: India 325 & 276/7 dec beat New Zealand 62 & 167 all out in 56.3 overs (Daryl Mitchell 60, Henry Nicholls 44; R Ashwin 4/34, Jayant Yadav 4/49) by 372 runs.
