Bhubaneswar: Following the end of tenure of Governor SC Jamir on Tuesday, President of India Dr Ram Nath Kovind has given the Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik the additional charge of Odisha.
“#PresidentKovind directs Shri Satya Pal Malik, Governor of Bihar, to discharge functions of Governor of Odisha, in addition to his own duties, following the completion of the tenure of Shri S.C. Jamir,” said a tweet from Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Veteran Congress leader, former Nagaland Chief Minister, former Governor of Maharashtra and Goa, Senayangba Chubatoshi Jamir was sworn-in as the Governor of Odisha by the then Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Justice Chokalingam Nagappan on March 21, 2013.

Jamir had succeeded Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, whose tenure had ended on August 20, 2012, but had been continuing in office.
Malik, a native of western Uttar Pradesh, is a law graduate. He started his political career in the 1970s as a member of the UP State Assembly. He had represented Aligarh Lok Sabha constituency on a Janata Dal ticket from 1989 to 1991.
Malik was appointed as the Governor of Bihar on September 30, 2017.
