Katihar: Bihar Police have arrested a 22-year-old man from Katihar district on suspicion of links to a Pakistan-based terror network, officials said. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Ahad, who lives in Musapur village under the Koda police station area of Katihar.
Katihar Superintendent of Police Parichay Kumar told PTI that Ahad was arrested on Monday after police received specific intelligence about his alleged links.
“Acting on a specific input, security personnel arrested Ahad on suspicion of his links to a Pakistan
-based terror network. Initially, he was detained, and finally he was declared arrested on Monday,” the SP said.
The police officer said a probe and technical scrutiny of Ahad’s mobile phone and social media accounts allegedly showed that he was in regular touch on Instagram and WhatsApp with Pakistan-based gangster Rana Haseen alias Rana Haseen, who is said to be linked to the terror network of Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti.
Investigators also claimed that Ahad exchanged chats, made audio calls, shared social media messages connected to alleged anti-national activities, relayed information about sensitive locations and circulated material allegedly tied to terrorist activity.
Police said the accused was also allegedly posting anti-India and communally provocative content online, forwarding links to Pakistan-based WhatsApp channels and trying to bring others into those groups.
“Police also examined the mobile phones of other individuals linked to the suspect. However, no suspicious activity was detected on their devices. Police have seized the mobile phone of the accused. He is being examined by other security agencies as well,” another police officer said.
