Patna: With just over a week left for voting to get underway for the Bihar Assembly elections, the political pitch is rising to a crescendo.
The battle for Bihar is crucial for BJP-dominated ruling NDA, under JD(U) veteran and chief minister Nitish Kumar, as well as Mahagatbandhan which is desperate to win back power.
In a no-holds barred attack, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he can do anything for votes.
Addressing a Mahagathbandhan rally in Muzaffarpur, Rahul said that the prime minister “can even dance for votes.”
Rahul was speaking in the presence of several Opposition leaders, including RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Mahagathbandhan’s CM face.
“If you tell Modi ji to do drama for votes, he would do it. If you tell him that you would vote for him and ask him to come to the stage and dance, he would dance,” Rahul mocked Modi.
He lashed out at the NDA government in Bihar, saying that Nitish Kumar is just a face in the state government, while the “remote control” is in the BJP’s hands.
“I agree with Tejashwi Yadav, who spoke just before me, that the government in Bihar is being run through remote control. They are simply using the face of Nitish Kumar,” Rahul said.
“Three or four people control it. BJP controls it. They have the remote controller in their hands, and they have nothing to do with social justice. I said in front of the Prime Minister in the Lok Sabha that you should get the caste census done. He did not say a single word… BJP is against social justice. They do not want it,” Rahul went on.

The BJP was quick to hit back at Rahul, who was described as a ‘local goon’.
“Rahul Gandhi speaks like a ‘Local Goon’. Rahul Gandhi has openly insulted every poor of India, & Bihar who has voted for PM Narendra Modi ji! Rahul Gandhi has mocked voters and Indian democracy,” BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari posted on X.
Rahul’s latest attack on Modi and BJP comes after the saffron party claimed that the Congess MP and Lok Sabha LoP had “gone missing”.
Amit Malviya, head of BJP’s IT cell, shared a post on X alongside a poster showing Rahul Gandhi as “missing for 59 days”.
