Billion Followers On Social Media! Cristiano Ronaldo Reaches Another Monumental Milestone
New Delhi: Be it on the field or off it, world records and Cristiano Ronaldo have become synonymous.
The football mega star on Friday became the world’s first celebrity to surpass 1 billion followers cumulatively across all social media platforms.
According to a live stream on his recently-created YouTube channel UR Cristiano, the Portuguese icon had 639,061,429 followers on Instagram; 170,529,133 on Facebook; 113,026,345 on X; 60,500,284 on YouTube; 9,372,710 on Kuaishou (Chinese social media app for short-form videos); and 7,530,121 on Weibo (another Chinese social media platform) at the exact moment when he reached a billion followers.
“We’ve made history — 1 BILLION followers! This is more than just a number – it’s a testament to our shared passion, drive, and love for the game and beyond. From the streets of Madeira to the biggest stages in the world, I’ve always played for my family and for you, and now 1 billion of us stand together. You’ve been with me every step of the way, through all the highs and the lows. This journey is our journey, and together, we’ve shown that there are no limits to what we can achieve. Thank you for believing in me, for your support, and for being part of my life. The best is yet to come, and we’ll keep pushing, winning, and making history together,” Cristiano posted on Instagram.

Cristiano reached the monumental milestone just 22 days after he started posting on YouTube, which contributed immensely to the drastic increase in his follower count. His YouTube channel shattered several records over the past one month, including reaching a million subscribers within 90 minutes of his first video being posted on his channel and breaching 10 million subs within 10 hours, reported Reuters.
Cristiano, who along with Argentine Leonel Messi, is considered to the greatest footballers of this century, last week became the first player to score 900 goals for club and country, during Portugal’s 2-1 win over Croatia in the Nations League.
He is also the all-time top scorer in Champions League history.
