Bhubaneswar: In the wake of bird flu in Bhubaneswar, the Odisha government on Thursday said that the survey will continue in the Odisha capital to stop the spread of the virus to other areas.
Briefing mediapersons after a review meeting presided over by Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Secretary R Raghu Prasad in presence of a Central team, Public Health Director Ajit Kumar Mohanty said that culling of chickens at the research farm of the Odisha University of Agriculture Technology (OUAT) and its one km radius area has been completed.
“It has been decided that the samples of chickens within 3-10 km radius of OUAT will be collected and sent to National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases in Bhopal,” he said.
The Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) will conduct a survey in these areas twice a week, he added.
Mohanty also informed that the central team will stay in Bhubaneswar for 10 days to review the bird flu situation.
