Biryani Proves Costly For Boy And His Sister In Berhampur. Read How?
Berhampur: In another case of cheating by fake restaurant aggregators and online home delivery platforms, a boy and his sister were duped of Rs 1.04 lakh.
Abhisek Panigrahi and his sister, residents of Ramahari Nagar here, had ordered Biryani at a cost of Rs 111 from a local restaurant through Swiggy.
The ‘Biryani’ was delivered to the duo at their house on time. But they found the Biryani of poor quality and wanted to complain to the owner of the restaurant. Their attempts to contact him over phone elicited no response.
After a few minutes, someone called up Abhisek and told him to give his account number to return the amount he had paid towards Biryani. When Abhisek gave the number, Rs 4,300 was withdrawn from his account immediately.
The caller called up Abhisek again after some time, saying that they were not able to deposit Rs 111 to his account and wanted another account number. After Abhisek gave his sister’s account number, Rs 99,500 was withdrawn from her account.
The boy and his sister have lodged an FIR in BNPur police station and police investigation is on.
Swiggy and Zomato have been making home delivery of food and beverages after the government allowed it as part of relaxation of lockdown norms.
