Bhubaneswar: The Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated by paying rich tributes to father of the nation by BJB Friends Association on premises of BJB Autonomous College in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
The event aimed to inspire students by promoting Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring principles and ideals.
Eminent poet and writer Harprasad Das served as the chief speaker and shared insights into Gandhi’s life and philosophies.
Renowned Gandhian writer Gaurang Chandra Parida encouraged students to embrace Gandhi’s ideals in their daily lives.
BJB College Principal, Itishree Padhi; former Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Haroon Rashid Khan, and General Manager of Union Bank of India, Sarvesh Ranjan attended the event.
To honour achievement of students, cash prizes and citations were awarded for excellence in college-level competitions focusing on Gandhi’s life and teachings, including essay, and quiz contests.
BJB Friends president, Debashish Patnaik presided and delivered the welcome address, while Secretary Satyabrata Dhupal concluded with a vote of thanks.
