Bhubaneswar: ‘BJB Friends’, a students’ association of BJB Autonomous College in Bhubaneswar, celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in the college campus on Monday.
Science and Technology Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, former vice-chancellor of Birla Global University Sudhakar Panda, Prof Gulam Moinuddin Khan and eminent writer Dash Benhur spoke at the function organised on the occasion.
The students who won various competitions including inter-college essay writing, debate, and general knowledge on Mahatma Gandhi’s life and ideals held earlier were presented prizes and certificates. Union Bank of India sponsored the entire celebration and awards.
Chief Manager of Union Bank of India’s Odisha Zone Sarbes Ranjan and Assistant Manager of Bhubaneswar Region Niranjan Barik were also present.
President of ‘BJB Friends’ Debasis Patnaik presided the function, while treasurer Satyabrat Dhupal gave the vote of thanks and lecturer of the college Samprati Panda coordinated.
Other dignitaries present at the function included former deputy governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Harun Rashid Khan, Rajkishore Choudhury, Krushna Chandra Patra, Kedar Patnaik, Ramshankar Nanda, Asimananda Mohanty, Shyamsundar Patnaik, Chitra Kanungo and Shubhadarshini Mishra.
