BJD Dissatisfied Over Railway Budget Allocation
Bhubaneswar: BJD, on Tuesday, expressed its unhappiness over the railway budget allocation of Rs 5,252 crore made for Odisha.
Citing that the Centre has not met with the State’s demands, the party spokesperson Pratap Deb said the budget has nothing new to offer.
“The railway budget allocation has only increased by 2.9 per cent since last year. Keeping eye on inflation, the increase is nominal,” said Pratap Deb, addressing a press conference.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had earlier written a letter to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, demanding a budgetary allocation of Rs 6,500 crore. Last year, the Centre had granted Rs 5,102 crore budget for Odisha.
“None of our demands have been met. We had asked for a new railway line, new trains and a Rajdhani Express to New Delhi via Sambalpur, but nothing has been done. This budget has nothing new,” he said.
