Bhubaneswar: Hitting out at BJP senior leader Jayanarayan Mishra for making allegation of mining scam in Odisha, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday accused him of bringing wild and baseless charges because of fear of losing the upcoming election.
In a statement, BJD leader and former Minister Rohit Pujari claimed that Mishra knows it well that he is going to face defeat in the upcoming elections.
Therefore, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) is indulging in false propaganda out of desperation apprehending impending defeat, Pujari claimed.
The BJD leader also accused Mishra of indulging in blackmailing tactics to extract donations and contributions from businessmen ahead of the elections.
However, the people of Sambalpur are aware of the true colours of Mishra and they will never take the allegations made by him seriously, he added.
Pujari’s hard-hitting statement came a few hours after Mishra alleged that mining scam to the amounting to Rs nine lakh crore took place in Odisha. The BJP leader also alleged that the corruption took place with the full knowledge and under the supervision of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, and demanded a CBI probe into the scandal.
