BJD ‘Infighting’ In Odisha: Woman Councillor Brings Serious Charges Against Party Leader In Balasore
Balasore: Amid reports of infighting and groupism in Biju Janata Dal (BJD) after its debacle in last elections in Odisha, cracks appeared to have surfaced in the crisis-ridden regional party in Balasore too.
The crisis in the party in Balasore came to the fore after a woman councillor of the notified area council (NAC) brought serious allegations against another BJD councillor.
BJD Councillor of ward number 23 Rashmirekha Mohanty has accused party councillor of ward number 22 Debasish Singh of misbehaving with her and shouting at her using vulgar language.
She also alleged that Singh made objectionable remarks about her caste.
Mohanty told reporters that though she lodged a complaint with the police against the male councillor ten days ago, no action has been initiated against him so far.
Expressing anguish over the rude behaviour of Singh and alleged police inaction, she even broke down while addressing a press meet in Balasore along with 12 other BJD councillors and ventilated her resentment.
