BJD Launches Three-Day Protest Against Rising Fuel Price
Bhubaneswar: Upping the ante against the Centre for the record increase in prices of petrol and diesel, the ruling BJD on Friday launched a three-day protest across Odisha.
As a part of the protest, members of Biju Yuva Janata and Mahila Janata Dal organised public awareness drives at different petrol pumps throughout the state (from 10 am to 12 pm) to sensitise people from all walks of life about the failure of the central government to control the abnormal rise in the fuel prices.
“We have been protesting against fuel price hike since long. But, the Centre has turned deaf ear towards to demand which is in the interest of people of the state. Now, we have decided to distribute leaflets among public and make them aware about the hidden agenda of the Centre and how it is exploiting people in the garb of rise in fuel prices in the international market,” said an agitator at Unit-III petrol pump in front of Ram Mandir here.
The BJD will also be organising public meetings and demonstrations at various places across the state, party sources said.
