BJD Leader Saroj Kumar Sahu From Odisha’s Nuapada Resigns From Party
Bhubaneswar: Senior leader from Odisha’s Nuapada district and state secretary of BJD Saroj Kumar Sahu resigned from primary membership of the party on Sunday.
Speaking to mediapersons, Sahu said he had joined BJD after being inspired by the ideology and clean administration of chief minister Naveen Patnaik. Though he worked to strengthen the party organisation at grassroots level for the last six years, he has been overlooked by the party, Sahu added.
“I feel pained by the actions of Nuapada MLA and the party candidate Rajendra Prasad Dholakia for the ensuing elections for the constituency. He used me when necessary and now sidelined me after his purpose was served,” said Sahu.
Alleging that Dholakia was involved in corrupt practices, Sahu said he and other party works had complained to the party leaders about the MLA’s activities. “We had also staged protest against Dholakia and highlighted his misdeeds before the media. But no action was taken against him,” he added.
“Frustrated by the BJD leaders’ indifference towards me, I tendered my resignation from the party. Several local leaders and party workers have also quit the ruling party. I will decide my next course of action after consulting my followers and well-wishers,” Sahu said.
He along with BJD district president Titu Panda, who resigned from the party last week, is likely to join the BJP along with their supporters.
