Bhubaneswar: Mounting a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha over its several moves, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday said the saffron party should start fulfilling the promises it made to the people instead of changing the names of various schemes.
Addressing a press meet in Bhubaneswar, senior BJD leaders Pramila Mallik and Lopamudra Baxipatra lashed out at the Mohan Majhi government over the change of the colour of LAccMI bus and school students’ uniforms in the state.
They attacked the government over the change of LAccMI scheme name to to ‘Mukhyamantri Bus Seva’ and change of bus colour from green to saffron.
Mallik, who is BJD chief whip in the Assembly, said that BJP had promised to the people before the recent elections that it would launch many development and welfare schemes for the people.
However, instead of launching something new, the BJP government is resorting to bank on different schemes introduced during the BJD regime by simply changing the names, she claimed.
Seeking to know as to why names of schemes are being changed, the BJD leader said the regional party would hit the streets if BJP fails to keep its words.
Attacking the BJP government in same vein, Lopamudra said the BJP government is about to complete one month in office but no step has so far been initiated to implement any agenda of its election manifesto.
She also warned that BJD will launch an agitation if the BJP government fails to sincerely work for the people instead of indulging in changing names of old schemes.
