Bhubaneswar: Hitting out at Odisha’s BJD government, Congress on Wednesday alleged large-scale irregularities in ‘Jaga Mission’, a programme launched in the state to upgrade around 3,000 slums in different places.
Addressing a press meet, senior leaders of the state unit of Congress came down heavily on the Naveen Patnaik government alleging that ruling BJD workers are getting land under the scheme, while genuine beneficiaries are being ignored.
They further alleged that the then Congress-led UPA government had rolled out Rajiv Awas Yojana to provide houses to the needy, the same programme was changed to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana after BJP came to power at the Centre.
Slamming the state government over ‘Jaga Mission, senior Congress leader Bijay Patnaik alleged that BJD workers are being provided with land instead of actual beneficiaries.
People having two-storey buildings, big houses, good sources of income and running business have been included in the new list of beneficiaries, he alleged.
Patnaik further alleged that the list was published on March 11 and only two days including Sunday were given to file complaints in order to avoid from being exposed.
The Congress leader sought to know as to how a common man can lodge the grievance within two days.
Alleging that the list of beneficiaries has been prepared with an evil motive, Patnaik said Congress demands immediate cancellation of the list and publication of a fresh one.
