BJP, Congress Boycott Governor’s Address As Odisha Assembly Budget Session Begins On Stormy Note

Bhubaneswar: The Budget Session of Odisha Assembly began on a stormy note on Tuesday with opposition BJP and Congress boycotting the address of Governor Ganeshi Lal slamming the government over Naba Das murder, law and order situation and other issues.

As soon as the House assembled for the opening day of the session, Congress MLAs rushed to the podium and created ruckus raising issues such as Naba Das murder and alleged deteriorating law and order situation.

As the Governor was addressing the House, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Narasingha Mishra stood up and lashed out at the state government alleging rapid deterioration of law and order situation.

Congress legislators soon rushed towards the podium creating an uproar over the Minister’s murder and the probe being conducted into the killing. Thereafter, the party legislators staged a walkout, boycotting the Governor’s address.

Senior Congress lawmaker Suresh Routray told reporters outside the house that the party members were forced to boycott the address of the Governor protesting the way the government was handling Naba Das murder case and law and order situation in the state.

Similarly, BJP members boycotted the address of Governor and staged a walkout.

The saffron party legislators then staged a sit-in at the entrance of the House holding placards.
