Bhubaneswar: After the name change spree, the Mohan Majhi government in Odisha on Tuesday changed the colour and design of uniforms for Class IX and X students of public and aided schools under Mukhyamantri Chhatra Chhatri Paridhan Yojana
The green colour introduced by the previous BJD regime last year will be replaced by light brown and maroon. The boys will wear checkered light brown shirts and maroon pants while girls will wear checkered kurta with maroon jacket and salwar.
The School and Mass Education Department in a letter to Director, Secondary Education, informed that the government has approved the final design and colour of the uniforms. “The new design may be implemented in schools where uniforms in the old design have not been stitched/distributed,” it added.
Earlier, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond had said that the state government may restore the school uniform colour to blue and white, which he alleged was changed to a colour associated with the then ruling party.
Previously, the uniforms were of blue and white colours for both boys and girls as is the case with students of government-run elementary schools.
