Raipur: Chhattisgarh BJP leader Ratan Dubey was killed by unidentified Naxalites on Saturday, three days before the first phase of state assembly polls.
Dubey, BJP’s Narayanpur district unit vice-president and the area’s Assembly convenor, was hacked to death with a sharp-edged weapon in the market at Kaushalnagar village while he was campaigning for Assembly elections, PTI reported.
A big police team has been rushed to the spot and urgent efforts are on to nab those involved in the brutal killing.
Narayanpur is among 20 Assembly constituency which will vote on November 7. The second phase of polls to the 90-member House will take place on November 17. Votes will be counted in all 5 poll-bound states on December 3.
A fortnight ago, BJP worker Birju Taram was shot dead by suspected Maoists in Sarkheda village in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district.
