Bhubaneswar: With the Lok Sabha elections fast approaching, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said it is likely to announce the names of around 100 candidates, including two to three aspirants from Odisha, on February 29.
Names of candidates for two to three Lok Sabha seats in Odisha are likely to find place in the first list of 100 party nominees likely to be released on Thursday, BJP’s Odisha election in-charge, Vijaypal Singh Tomar said soon after his arrival in Bhubaneswar.
There are 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha where Assembly election is also slated to be held along with the parliamentary polls.
Tomar told reporters that the party would hold meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday for discussion about preparations for the upcoming elections. The focus will be on implementation of all the Central government schemes in the state.
To a question about talks on possible alliance between BJP and BJD in Odisha, Tomar it is for the Central leadership of the party to decide the future course of action.
“However, BJP is fully prepared to fight in all the Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha. We are confident of securing absolute majority in both Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly,” the senior BJP leader said.
