BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi Questions Extra Security For 5T Secretary’s Bargarh Visit, Seeks Answer From Odisha DGP

Bhubaneswar: After sparking a row in political circles by accusing a secretary level officer of ‘hijacking’ governance in Odisha, senior BJP leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi has now raised fresh questions on security arrangements for the same IAS officer.

The firebrand BJP leader has questioned the extra security deployment reportedly being arranged for the visit of 5T Secretary to Bargarh district on Sunday.

In a tweet, Aparajita expressed surprise over police deployment standards for the Secretary. She sought to know from the Director General of Police (DGP) about the security deployment level for the Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner.

The BJP MP also sought to know as to why should a person going to inspect development work have so much ‘fear’ and ‘insecurity.

“Deployment order today. If this is the Odisha Police deployment standards for“Hon’ble Secretary”,will the@DGPOdisha clarify what is the deployment level for Chief Secretary, Dev Commissioner? Why should a person going to inspect development work have so much fear &‘insecurity’?” Aparajita tweeted.

The Lok Sabha member also clubbed a VHF message from the RI of Policem Bargarh to IICs of some police stations in the district seeking deputation of 25 personnel for the visit of the 5T Secretary.

No comment was immediately available from the state government or Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on questions raised in Aparajita’s tweet.

The BJP leader has already triggered a political debate in the state after her recent allegation that the 5T Secretary has ‘hijacked’ the entire governance in Odisha while elected representatives, including MLAs, MPs and Ministers were made silent spectators.

Responding to Aparajita’s allegation, the ruling had claimed that the 5T Secretary’s visit to different parts of the state played a significant role in accelerating development and ensuring transformation.
