Jajpur: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA entered into a verbal duel during a function in Odisha’s Jajpur over the issue of development, sparking a political row in the area.
As per information, the faceoff took place between BJP MP Rabi Narayan Behera and BJD MLA Sujata Sahoo during the recently-held Local Self Government Day celebration in Jajpur.
Speaking at the event, the BJD legislator mounted a stinging attack on the BJP government accusing it of ignoring the contribution made by former MLA Pranab Prakash Das for the development of Jajpur.
Those wearing dark glasses unable to see who was instrumental in ensuring development in Jajpur, she said, adding that everything will be crystal clear if they wear transparent spectacles. ‘If we wear black glasses one, everything will appear black,” Sahoo said.
Claiming that the district has been developed by ex-MLA Pranab Prakash Das, the BJD leader said those targeting him are under the influence of dark spectacles.
Reacting sharply to the BJD legislator’s remarks, the BJP MP said Jajpur has also become synonymous with corruption and financial irregularities. While no one is denying certain development works in Jajpur, the district has also earned the dubious distinction of being at the forefront of irregularities, claimed Benhera.
Emphasising the need to work together to eradicate irregularities in all spheres, the BJP leader said no dark or transparent glass will be needed to combat corruption.
