Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Arun Govil arrived in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday as part of the party’s poll blitzkrieg ahead of the third-round simultaneous elections in Odisha.
Govil became a household name after he essayed the role of Lord Ram in Ramananda Sagar’s epic TV series ‘Ramayan’. He also started his political innings by contesting the 2024 polls from Meerut.
Speaking to the media, the actor-turned-politician said that the saffron party’s performance will be on the expected lines. “Everyone wants the country to progress, and there is no better alternative to BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for it,” he said, while urging people to exercise their franchise.
He is scheduled to address public meetings in Champua at 10.45 am and Telkoi at 12.15 pm, both in Keonjhar district. He will also hold a roadshow at Dhenkanal at 1.30 pm and address a meeting in Jaydev Assembly constituency in Khurda district.
Meanwhile, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted a roadshow at Deogarh after paying obeisance to Maa Samaleswari and tribute to Biju Barua. He will also address a Vijay Sankalp Samavesh at Barbil under Champua Assembly constituency in Keonjhar district followed by two more rallies at Choudwar and Baramba.
Union Minister and senior BJP leader Giriraj Singh will also hold a roadshow in Sambalpur, while Union Minister Arjun Munda is slated to address a Vijay Sankalp Samavesh in Rairangpur.
National BJP president J P Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are expected to hit the campaign trail in the state on Thursday.

Voting will be held in Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Puri and Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seats and 42 Assembly segments falling under these parliamentary constituencies, on May 25.
