BJP Questions Odisha Govt Silence On Puri Rath Yatra For 2nd Day
Bhubaneswar: For the second day on Thursday, the BJP questioned the silence of the Odisha government on the Rath Yatra in Puri on June 23.
Speaking to reporters here, BJP leader Bijoy Mahapatra said after the Jagannath Temple Managing Committee took the decision to celebrate the festival without devotees, the government is left with no option but to give its approval.
“When the state government knows that it has no other alternative, why is it not announcing its decision,” Mohapatra asked.
With less than 10 days left for the Rath Yatra on June 23, the government is yet to announce its decision on how to celebrate the world famous festival.
Further criticising the BJD government, he said it has the tendency to complicate the issues as it is unable to take decisions on its own. “It is common knowledge that a couple of senior bureaucrats take the decisions on behalf of the government,” Mahapatra said.
On Wednesday, BJP state general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan had asked the state government to clear doubts over holding the Rath Yatra.
