Bhubaneswar: The BJP has lodged complaint with the Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) against Odisha governor SC Jamir for campaigning for Congress-NPF alliance in the ensuing state assembly elections.
The saffron party in its petition to the CEO alleged that the Jamir who is on a 10-day visit to Nagaland is campaigning for particular Congress and Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF) candidates in Mokokchung Town.
Protesting his involvement in the electioneering process in Nagaland as he is supposed to maintain neutrality as per the Constitution of India, the petition said the Governor should uphold the integrity and respect of the Governor office for larger interest of India. Besides, election modal codes are already violated by Jamir which is threatening the Indian democracy as well as protocol as head of the state, it further added.
Urging the President of India to take action against the Odisha governor for committing constitutional impropriety and dereliction of duty, the BJP said if he is so keen to enter state politics, he should resign with immediate effect.
