BJP Seeks CBI Probe Into Multi-Crore Scams In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The BJP on Friday demanded a CBI probe into the multi-crore scam in sapling plantation scheme Cooperative Bank loan and supply of polythene to Omfed.
Briefing mediapersons here, state BJP spokesperson Pitambara Acharya said while the Agriculture minister has admitted massive scam in the sapling plantation scheme in Mayurbhanj district, the Chief Minister is tight-lipped on the matter.
“While there have been several allegations of corruptions against the ruling party leaders and bureaucrats, the Chief Minister has turned a blind eye while laughing away these issues with contempt. While the former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav is in jail for Rs 400-crore scam, in Odisha, the Naveen Patnaik and Co is sitting as if nothing has happened. The government is used to form a series of inquiry commissions without any tangible results,” Acharya said.
He said the BJP will launch a statewide agitation and take legal recourse against the state government if it fails to conduct a CBI probe into these scams.
Reacting to the allegations, BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb said it seems that both the BJP and Acharya are mentally unsound. “Why the BJP spokesperson is worried over the action taken by our party supremo? The scams have been discussed in the Odisha Assembly and the state government will take appropriate action for which it does not need any advice from the BJP,” he told mediapersons here.
