BJP To Launch ‘Gaon Gaon Chalo, Ghar Ghar Chalo Abhiyan’ In Odisha On Party Foundation Day Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: In an effort to reach out to people belonging to other backward classes (OBC), BJP will launch ‘Gaon Gaon Chalo, Ghar Ghar Chalo Abhiyan’ coinciding with the party’s foundation day on Thursday and cover all villages and houses across Odisha.

Announcing this at a press meet in Bhubaneswar, BJP party’s State OBC Morcha president Surath Biswal the campaign being launched on the foundation day of the party will conclude on April 14, the birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

Party leaders and workers will undertake door-to-door visits in the villages to connect with the people, particularly OBC community, he said.

The aim of the campaign is to reach out to the vast majority of the population belonging to OBC and create awareness about their constitutional rights and the State government’s neglect to the community, the BJP leader said.

While the campaign will end on April 14, the party will continue to organise several programmes from panchayat to district level during the next two months addressing the issues of OBCs, he said.

Coming down heavily on the BJD government in Odisha, Biswal accused it of neglecting the people belonging to OBCs during its 23-year rule.

Though backward classes constitute over 54 per cent of Odisha’s population, but the state government has failed to implement 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in government jobs and educational institutions, he claimed
