BJP Win In Dhamnagar Is Victory Of Democracy, Says Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan
Bhubaneswar: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday congratulated BJP candidate Suryabanshi Suraj for his victory in Dhamnagar byelection in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
In a Twitter post, the Union Minister said BJP’s victory is the victory of justice and democracy. He also congratulated the people of Dhamnagar for electing Suryabanshi as their MLA in the byelection.
“I express my gratitude to the people of Dhamnagar for reposing their faith on BJP, for honouring the legacy of late Bishnu Sethi and for blessing Suryabanshi Suraj,” he said in the tweet.
“The election of BJP candidate symbolises the victory of women and youths of the constituency. It reflects the love of the people towards former MLA late Bishnu Sethi. It also projects the voter’s trust and belief in Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Pradhan said and congratulated the party workers for their efforts to ensure the victory.
Suryabanshi won the election by defeating BJD candidate Abanit Das with a margin of 9,881 votes after the final round of counting of votes polled in the bypoll.
While Suryabanshi garnered 80,351 votes, Abanti polled 70,470. The BJD’s dissident candidate and former MLA Rajendra Das who contested the by poll as an Independent bagged 8,153 votes.
The regional party had set a record by winning all five by-elections – Pipili, Brajrajnagar, Balasore Sadar, Tirtol and Bijepur – till now since the 2019 twin polls.
