Mumbai: Amid death threats to Salman Khan by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the actor’s father Salim Khan alleged that it was a case of extortion and had nothing to do with the killing of blackbuck.
However, Lawrence’s cousin Ramesh has now claimed that Salman had offered money to settle the case, but Bishnois rejected the offer.
“His (Salman’s) father Salim Khan said that the Lawrence gang is doing this for money. I want to remind him his son brought a cheque book in front of the community, saying fill in the figures and take it. If we were hungry for money, we would have taken it at that time,” Ramesh said in an interview with NDTV.
Ramesh reiterated that blackbuck is considered to be sacred by the Bishnoi community, which was enraged when Salman hunted it down.
The entire Bishnoi community is supporting Lawrence, who has Salman on his hitlist.
“When Salman Khan killed the blackbuck, every Bishnoi’s blood was boiling. We left it to the court to decide. But if the community was made fun of, then it is natural for society to get angry. Today, the entire Bishnoi community stands with Lawrence in this matter,” he said.
Lawrence is currently in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati jail following multiple criminal charges against him including extortion, threats and murders.
