Kuwait City: A major fire engulfed the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation complex at Al-Shuwaikh after a drone strike. Kuwaiti air defence systems, meanwhile, continued to intercept hostile missiles and drones.

“A fire broke out at the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation complex in Al-Shuwaikh following a drone attack, with emergency and firefighting teams immediately responding to the incident,” an urgent announcement from Kuwait’s Ministry of Information said,

The situation was brought under control and “no human casualties have been reported,” authorities said, easing immediate concerns about worker safety at the strategic facility, as reported by timesnow.in.

Kuwait’s Army General Staff said in a separate statement that the country’s air defence systems were actively responding to aerial threats. “Kuwaiti air defences are currently confronting hostile missile attacks and drones,” adding that “any explosion sounds heard are the result of air defence systems intercepting hostile attacks,” the military noted.

The statement urged citizens and residents to remain calm and “comply with the safety instructions issued by the competent authorities,” as security agencies continue monitoring the situation closely.

The Kuwait Ministry of Finance confirmed that another government facility had been affected by the attack. In an official statement, the ministry said “the Ministries Complex building suffered severe material damage due to a drone attack on Saturday evening, April 4, 2026.”

“No human injuries were reported as a result of the incident,” and that “emergency teams and relevant authorities have initiated necessary procedures,” officials said.

Precautionary administrative measures have been announced by the authorities in response to the attack. The ministry stated that “staff at the Ministries Complex will work remotely on Sunday, April 5, and public reception has been postponed,” to ensure safety while damage assessment and security checks are carried out.
