New Delhi: A massive Cloudfare outage on Friday, the second in less than a month, affected dozens of popular apps including quick-commerce platforms like Blinkit and Zepto, trading platforms such as Zerodha and Groww Ltd. and graphic design tool Canva.
Even DownDetector, one of the most trusted apps to check outage, has not been spared this time as netizens in several countries across the world faced trouble.
Users trying to log into these apps have been getting errors.
The problem started after a scheduled maintenance at one of Cloudflare’s critical data centres in Detroit, according to its status page.
“Traffic might be re-routed from this location, hence there is a possibility of a slight increase in latency during this maintenance window for end-users in the affected region,” Cloudflare said on its status page. “Please make sure you are expecting this traffic to fail …as network interfaces in this data centre may become temporarily unavailable.”
Back home, just as daily traders had their business affected, customers of Blinkit and Zepto were left scratching their heads. So used to ordering anything from food items, grocery, vegetables, fruits etc. and getting those in a matter of minutes, teenagers, young professionals and housewives felt helpless as they couldn’t use these essential online services.
Netizens took to X to express their disappointment.
Posts like “Blinkit down? Samaan Kaha Se Mangwau?”, “Is #blinkit down?” flooded the internet.
“Socha thodi bank statement dekhi jaye, bas line se Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, Dominos, Nykaa.. In sabke alava kuch tha hi nahi,” wrote one user.
“Multiple websites and applications that rely on Cloudflare servers, including Fortnite, LinkedIn, Blinkit, Zerodha, Groww, ChessCom and several others, are currently experiencing a global outage,” informed one person.
