Bhubaneswar: The block grant teachers, who are on an indefinite strike at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here since August 16, continued their agitation for the seventh day on Wednesday after the ministerial-level meeting over their demands remained inconclusive.
At the meeting held at State Secretariat on Tuesday evening, finance minister Sashibhushan Behera assured that their demands will be considered after another meeting that will be convened soon. He requested the block grant teachers to withdraw their strike and join duties.
However, the agitators under the aegis of All Odisha School-College Teachers and Employees’ United Forum decided to continue their strike till the demands are met.
The members of the association also threatened to intensify the agitation in the days to come, if the government fails to keep its promise this time.
Pressing for their demands, the teachers had boycotted both Matric and Plus II evaluation process in April this year by staging protests before different evaluation centres.
