Bhubaneswar: As part of the unlock guidelines for November, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started online bookings for kalyan mandaps run by the civic body.
BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhury said the kalian mandaps will start operating with strict adherence to the government’s COVID-19 guidelines. “Though the government has increased the guest limit from 50 to 200, it doesn’t mean people can violate the COVID-19 norms. BMC squads will be vigilant to check if social distancing or other safety protocols are being violated. Penalty will be finalised based on the violations,” Chaudhury was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
Reopening of the kalyan mandaps ahead of the marriage season will help traders who deal in supply of event management items and those catering to social functions earn their livelihood. It will also help those who can’t afford to book hotels for social functions as well as earn some revenue for BMC.
