Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has carried out demolition work at a property linked to Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn in Mumbai’s Juhu area over alleged unauthorised construction.
The action comes days after the civic body issued a stop-work notice over alterations being carried out at the property.
According to civic officials, the demolition took place at a property in Juhu’s Kapole Co-operative Housing Society, targeting portions of the interior work allegedly undertaken without the necessary approvals.
Officials said Devgn’s side had reportedly sought four weeks to respond to the notice. However, after the civic body received no reply, authorities proceeded with the demolition.
Following the development, Devgn’s team issued a clarification, stating that the property in question is not the actor’s residence but a separate property that has been rented out.
The statement read, “We would like to clarify that the property in question is not Ajay Devgn’s residence, but a separate property that has been rented out. We have applied to the BMC for the requisite permissions in respect of one of our properties and are duly complying with all applicable BMC rules, regulations and guidelines. The necessary changes, alterations and modifications, as required by the BMC, have been carried out.”
The development comes amid the BMC’s ongoing action against alleged unauthorised constructions across Mumbai. Further details are awaited.
On the professional front, Devgn was recently seen in ‘Drishyam 3’, which also features Shriya Saran, Tabu and Jaideep Ahlawat in key roles, among others.
The film has reportedly crossed the ₹300-crore mark at the box office.
