BMC Launches Demonstration Drive On E-Waste In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday launched a demonstration programme on e-waste collection to promote awareness among people of the city.
As part of the programme, the demonstration group made an appeal to the residents of Madhusudan Nagar area to give their electronics waste and domestic hazardous waste (DHW) to the BMC instead of throwing those away. The group, through demonstration, pointed out the environment hazards posed by the electronics waste, according to a BMC release.
The BMC organised the programme in association with SBI on the occasion of Swachhata Pakhawada (Swachhata Pakhya) observed in different cities of the country as part of Swachh Survekshan 2022. Deputy Commissioner, Sanitation, BMC Suvendu Kumar Sahoo inaugurated the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahoo said the BMC has been collecting e-waste and DHW every Saturday and receiving encouraging response from the communities. Besides BMC, other agencies are also involved in in sanitation initiatives in the city, he added.
