Rourkela: The body of one of the five youths, who went missing in a
tunnel of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), was recovered during a joint
operation by police, ODRAF and fire officials on Saturday evening.
The body was recovered from inside the tunnel after an eight-hour long effort.
However, search and rescue operations are underway to locate four others.
Though the youths hailing from Sitalapada slum went missing in the
tunnel (Outfall-9) of the plant on June 3, the matter came to the fore
after family members of one of the victims lodged a complaint
regarding the matter at Uditnagar police station on Friday night.
Soon after receiving the complaint, a joint team of police, ODRAF and
fire officials swung into action to trace the missing persons.
However, some locals alleged that the youths went inside the tunnel
for stealing steel materials of the plant.
