Bhubaneswar: The body of a missing delivery boy was found near Pandara under Mancheswar police limits in Bhubaneswar triggering concerns over safety of gig workers.
The victim has been identified as Nilambar Bhoi, a resident of Mahadev Nagar
According to sources, Bhoi was employed as a delivery executive for an online/private delivery company. He left home for work as usual but did not return, leading his family to file a missing person report after he was untraceable for two days.
Locals spotted his body with a gamcha (towel) wrapped around the neck late Thursday night along an isolated field in the Pandara area. His bicycle and a bottle were also found nearby, suggesting he may have been on duty at the time.
On being informed, Mancheswar police seized the body and sent it for postmortem. While possibility of an accident has been ruled out, the body’s position and lack of obvious collision injuries have prompted suspicions of foul play. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas and checking the victim’s mobile phone records to trace his last movements. Delivery logs are also being scrutinised to identify his final assignment and potential contacts before the incident.
