Koraput: The body of a postal department employee, who had gone missing, was recovered from the Kolab river in Odisha’s Koraput district on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as P Santosh Kumar, was working at the post office in Semiliguda in the district.
As per sources, Kumar went missing on Wednesday. After his two-wheeler was found near Kolab dam, a search operation was launched in the river to trace him, suspecting that he might have jumped into it.
Police said they are investigating into the incident from all possible angles. Kumar, who belonged to Gandhi Nagar locality in Koraput, had left his house on his scooter.
However, his mobile phone showed was found switched off when his family members tried to contact him. Later, the family contacted some of his colleagues and enquired about his whereabouts. When they came to know that Kumar was absent and did not for duty, the family became worried.
Some locals later spotted the scooter under mysterious circumstances on the Kolab bridge and informed police following which search operation was launched and the body recovered.
