Jajpur: Body of a panchayat samiti member, who had been missing since Tuesday, was fished out of a canal near Chainapur in Jajpur district on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Kedar Das (46). “He had a deep injury on his head which makes us suspect that he was killed. The body has been sent for postmortem to ascertain the exact reason behind his death,” a police officer said.
Mangalapur police later recovered Kedar’s motorcycle from Baulanga in the district.
Local residents attributed the murdered to previous enmity.
