Mumbai: Popular comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa, who were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday, have been sent to 14-day judicial custody.
According to an ANI report, Bharti and Haarsh were taken for a medical examination on Sunday morning, after which they were produced before the special NDPS court.
After hearing the case, the court ordered judicial custody for the celebrity couple till December 4.
“A court in Mumbai sends comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa to 14-day judicial custody till 4th December, in connection with the seizure of ganja from their residence. They were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB),” tweeted ANI.
Public prosecutor Atul Sarpande told the media that Bharti has been charged for consuming drugs and her husband Haarsh has been charged for ‘financing’ drugs.
Sarpande also stated that the investigating agency found links between Haarsh and alleged drug peddlers.
The couple was arrested by the NCB after 86.5 grams of cannabis was recovered from their house during a raid on Saturday.
The NCB zonal head Sameer Wankhede told ANI that both Bharti and Haarsh admitted to consuming drugs.
“NCB raided production office and house of comedian Bharti Singh and from both the places 86.5 gram of ganja was recovered. Both Bharti and her husband accepted consuming ganja,” said the NCB.
