Mumbai: Kshitij Prasad, who worked as an executive producer at Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment in 2019 was on Thursday, granted bail by a special court under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
He was released on furnishing a personal bail bond of Rs 50,000, with one or two sureties. The court has given him four weeks to furnish solvent surety, India Today reported.
Special court judge GB Gurao of the special NDPS court also ordered Prasad to deposit his passport with the investigating agency and has been instructed to not leave the country without prior permission from the NDPS court. Even if Prasad has to leave Mumbai, he has to inform the investigating officer and shall give his itinerary to the Investigating Officer in advance, the court said.
Prasad will also have to attend the office of the investigating agency on the first Monday of every month between 10 am and 11 am to mark his presence for six months, the report added.
Soon after the arrest, Khitij Prasad, through his lawyer Satish Maneshinde, had alleged that NCB officers had coerced him into giving a statement implicating Karan Johar and other Dharma Productions employees along with few actors.
However, the agency claimed that the statements given by Prasad were voluntary and an afterthought, the report added.
