Tata Motors has finally unveiled the much-awaited long-range electric version of the Nexon SUV.
The EV gets blue highlights and newer headlamps that make it stand out from the regular Nexon. Tata has loaded the car with 35 connected options such as remote commands and alerts like tow-away warnings accessible from the ZConnect app. There is a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the top variant is loaded with sunroof, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leatherette seats, rain-sensing wipers and auto headlamps.
The Nexon EV has a 30.2 kWh lithium battery pack powering 95 kW motor that produces 245 Nm of torque. Tata claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 9.9 seconds. The company is also claiming a range of at least 300 kms.
Being an electric car, it is expected to have a running cost of just Rs 1 per km, 80 per cent lower than the petrol version.
The batteries can be recharged in an hour’s time using a fast charger.
The app also helps find closest charging stations.
The Nexon EV will have an eight-year warranty or 1,60,000 km on the battery and the motor, which is the highest in the industry.
Bookings are open at a pre-booking price of Rs 21,000. The SUV will be launched in January and is expected to be priced around Rs 15-17 lakh, ex-showroom. This will make it the cheapest long-range electric vehicle in the country.
