Bhubaneswar: Thirteen-year-old Janhavi Dutta did Odisha proud by winning the prestigious ‘Born To Shine’ scholarship.
She is the only girl from the state to be awarded the scholarship worth Rs 4 lakh and a place in the esteemed mentorship programme, curated by the Born To Shine mentors.
An initiative of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) in association with GiveIndia, the Born To Shine programme rewards India’s top 30 girl child prodigies.
Janhavi, a talented classical singer, competed with over 5,000 girls across the country for the 30 scholarships.
Janhavi took to Hindustani classical music at the age of 7. Despite facing financial difficulties, she carved a niche for herself with her perseverance and hard work.
Her talent was discovered early by her parents and nurtured by mentors and school teachers. Juggling her studies with her strict rehearsal routine, Janhavi has been enthralling audiences across the country.
The scholarship money is a step towards realising her dream of learning from stalwarts.
“Our goal is to help talented kids pursue their talent, become role models and change-makers for their society. With this scholarship, we aim to provide all the enablers for these kids to get mentored and encouraged to go the extra mile,” said SumitTayal, COO of GiveIndia.
