Bravo Odisha! Silver Shining In Tourism & Sports
Bhubaneswar: For the first time, the Indian Responsible Tourism Awards was held outside Delhi this year. Odisha played host to the 6th edition of the award function at Eco Retreat in Konark.
The awards, which celebrate ethical travel in India, have a global connect too. The organisers are a regional partner of the reputed World Travel Market’s (WTM) Responsible Tourism Awards held in London.
Besides the honour of hosting the prestigious event, Odisha was also conferred with the ‘Best Future Forward State’ in the silver category.
This award recognises the state’s contribution to promoting responsible tourism, Odisha Tourism Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi said.
Kerala won the Gold category award in the same segment.
In another silver feat, star sprinter from Odisha, Amiya Mallick came second in the Men’s 100m in the second leg of the Indian Grand Prix at the National Institute of Sports in Patiala on Thursday. Amiya clocked 10.74 seconds.
Meanwhile, Odisha’s ace athlete, Dutee Chand bagged Gold in the Women’s 100m race by clocking 11.44 seconds in the same championship.
