Brown Sugar Worth Over Rs 1 Crore Seized, 2 Arrested In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Police have seized brown sugar worth more than Rs 1 crore and arrested two persons in this connection in Bhubaneswar.
Speaking to media persons here on Friday, Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi said the Special Crime Unit of the Commissionerate Police had been working on the information about drugs peddling.
The narcotics team comprising ACP KK Hariprasad and inspectors Sudhir Sahu and Santoshini Behera under the supervision of Additional DCP Sanjeev Satpathy were successful with the arrest of the two persons. The arrested drug peddlers are Niranjan Pattjoshi, an auto-rickshaw driver, and Pradipta Kumar Sahu, both residents of Delang in Puri district.
The team seized 1.01 kg of brown sugar worth more than Rs 1 crore. Besides, Two motorcycles have been seized from their possession.
The anti-narcotics drive has been launched in the twin cities since the formation of the Special Crime Unit on May 10. The police unit has so far seized 1.42 kg of brown sugar and about 230 kg of ganja, the Commissioner said.
