Bhadrak: Police have seized brown sugar worth more than Rs 9 lakh and arrested two brothers in this connection in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, Bhadrak’s Additional SP Arup Abhisek Behera said the police had information about the two brothers, Kahnu Nayak and Kalia Nayak, peddling brown sugar in Gunthunia bazaar of Charampa under Bhadrak Town police station for some time. But the two brothers managed to evade the police.
On getting confirmed information that Kahnu and Kalia were going with the drugs on Friday night, a special squad of Bhadrak police nabbed them. On searching them, the police team found 9.5 gram of brown sugar from their possession. They have seized the brown sugar which is estimated to cost more than Rs 9 lakh.
Following the arrest, the police seized a Scooty, a car and two mobile phones of the two accused. After further investigation, the two brothers would be forwarded to the court, the ASP said.
