Bhubaneswar: Excise officials seized brown sugar worth Rs 19 lakh from Kargil Basti in Capital on Friday and arrested two persons on charges of smuggling.
The arrested includes a woman. Officials said the accused had procured the brown sugar from Balasore and were involved in the smuggling of the contraband for past few months.
The seized brown sugar weighs 195 grams, said excise officials.
The accused are Ramesh Beura (25) and Gita Rauta (30).
On a tip-off, excise officials raided Kargil slum under Airfield police limits and arrested the accused.
